There are several opportunities for funding at the O'Donnell Institute's MA program in art history.

All students and applicants to the MA program are invited to apply for merit-based funding to help defray the cost of tuition. These are eligible for renewal one time only and are to be used for the second year of the program. Amounts of these highly competitive financial awards will vary based on academic merit and potential.

EODIAH Financial Award Application

The EODIAH Financial Award supports students seeking a master’s degrees in Art History at UT Dallas.

Applications are now open for Academic Year 2024-2025 Financial Awards. Awards available range from $2,000 to $12,000 and will be awarded by the EODIAH Financial Award Committee in early Spring 2024.

The EODIAH Financial Award application is separate from the MA Program application.

The MA Program application is due January 15. Priority is given to applicants who submit the EODIAH Financial Award application by January 19, rolling applications are accepted through May 1.

Both new students/applicants to the MA program and current students can apply to receive a financial award.

Assistantships

Other opportunities for funding include research assistantships with O’Donnell Institute Faculty, and graduate curatorial assistantships at museums such as the Crow Museum of Asian Art, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Nasher Sculpture Center, that offer paid, part-time work meant to complement students’ coursework and provide partial financial support. Only current EODIAH MA students are eligible, and the call for applications takes place at the end of students’ first semester of enrollment in the program. Opportunities will vary each semester.

Research-related travel

EODIAH MA students can apply for travel funding for their thesis-related research. Funding includes flights, lodging, and stipend. To apply, a student must submit a written proposal outlining specific research questions and goals that pertain to their larger research project and an outline of the on-site work to be done to pursue those questions.

EODIAH Faculty are on hand to assist with museum and library introductions. In support of their research, past students have traveled internationally to Spain, Egypt, Morocco, Italy, and domestically to New York City, Los Angeles, and Houston.
