About me

Hi, I'm Emily! I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas. Before UTD, I was a postdoctoral associate at Duke University, and before then a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics at Brown University participating in the ICERM semester program Network Science and Graph Algorithms. I obtained my Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign under the guidance of Jeff Erickson. My dissertation was Fast Algorithms for Surface Embedded Graphs via Homology. You can learn more about my work from my CV.

I'm married to my amazing wife Carol, who completed a Ph.D. in Crop Sciences at Illinois shortly before I finished mine. We met during our first dance lesson with the Illini Swing Society. We have two children, a seven-year-old named Nathan and a three-year-old named Alexander. Nathan loves to play Minecraft with Carol, and Alex loves to bother Carol and Nathan while they're trying to play Minecraft.
