Recruiting STEM Majors:

Blast off for F20 and S21 In July all of our newly hired STEM teachers received kits to start their new classrooms!

One of the hallmarks of the UTeach Dallas Program is active recruitment of STEM majors that may not have considered teaching as a career otherwise.  Master Teachers speak at freshman and transfer orientations and in intro STEM classes such as General Chemistry. Advertisements, including postcards, pamphlets and social media assure that students know what the UTeach Dallas program has to offer. Last year 108 students tried out our introductory class, STEP 1 despite challenges brought on by Covid-19. We were also had 23 UTeachers student teach, graduate and complete certification during the pandemic.

Students Served Through Your Investment:

New Math Teacher Ruveyda Karaca F20 who will be teaching at Berkner HS this fall, participates in a classroom management workshop at Blast Off in July.

The UTeach Dallas formula for students served assumes that each year, a secondary teacher will reach approximately 150 students (that’s a typical five-period per day with a class size of 30 students each). Each year, we add every UTeach grad, adjusting for the fact that over 75% of our grads end up for over 5 years in the classroom.
