Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Testing
The only way to completely protect yourself from acquiring an STD is to avoid sex and any type of sexual contact. If you (male or female) are sexually active, you should be screened routinely for STDs. Many experts recommend once a year unless you notice signs or symptoms of an STD, in which case you should consult a physician or testing facility immediately.
The Mayo Clinic recommends Pap tests for women age 21 or older or no later than three years after the first time you have intercourse. This test screens for cancer or changes that are precancerous.
Below are facilities that offer STD testing. Prices and types of test vary. Contact the facility of your choice for more information.
