What is Adaptive Technology?
Adaptive Technology is the use of technology to provide equal access to information. The Office of Student AccessAbility (OSA) offers adaptive support services for students with disabilities, such as audio books, adaptive software/hardware, alternative format materials and equipment loan.
Adaptive software and hardware is installed in various campus computer labs. In addition, the McDermott Library (MC 2.216) offers Adaptive Technology to UT Dallas students, faculty and staff. To gain access to the equipment, users must attend a short training session. For more information, call 972-883-2643.
Examples of Adaptive Technology include:
- Screen Reader Software (JAWS)
- Portable Magnifiers
- Speech Recognition Software
- Screen Magnification (Zoom Twix)
- Listening Devices
Qualified students with disabilities may be able to borrow equipment on a semester basis. Contact OSA for more information.
