Serve the homeless, at-risk youth, immigrants, and those affected by poverty in the San Antonio area. Participants will join forces with the San Antonio Food Bank to learn and serve through their urban garden, Kids Café, Haven for Hope, and food warehouse programs. Hands-on service and educational sessions will provide participants insight to the social issues impacting the city of San Antonio.
Service tasks may include sorting donations, basic renovation and facilities maintenance, serving meals, gardening and other outreach projects.
The boxes we made were described as opportunities, instead of being called meals for the elderly. The San Antonio Food Bank provides opportunities to their community by giving meals, so the people who receive them have opportunities to pursue other activities without worrying about when and what they will eat next.
