With an estimated $2 billion in property damage, disaster recovery efforts are needed in Colorado after floods devastated the Denver area in September 2013. We will assist various agencies and provide support to those affected by the floods.
Tasks may include basic repairs, facilities maintenance, donation sorting and various community outreach projects.
We went to Glen Heaven, a place deep in the Rocky Mountains. Glen Heaven is a place without phone signals; so, we could image how, in the moments of the flood, how helpless some people may have felt. Fortunately, we could do something for them. Some of the things that we did were very small such as clear the mud, fix houses and remove trees. But without the little things we did how could people move forward with construction in these areas? After this trip I experienced a lot of new things. I learned how to use some tools that I had never used before. I witnessed so many things that would not have been possible to see in my daily life at UT Dallas.
