A message from the president of UT Dallas.
The University of Texas at Dallas - Office of the President

March 15, 2020

Dear UT Dallas Faculty and Staff:

To further support the goal of slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community, effective Monday, March 16, I am authorizing vice presidents and deans to allow University personnel in their units to work remotely through Friday, March 27. This authorization may be extended. The University will remain open, but we will strive to function with as few onsite personnel as necessary to maintain our physical plant and research enterprise and to provide essential support services to our University community. Vice presidents and deans will communicate to their units which personnel should report to campus and which personnel should work remotely.

I hope my message on Friday, March 13, prepared you for this possibility. For those working remotely, please adhere to supervisor expectations and University policies for monitoring email and other forms of communication, for performing job duties, and for protecting UT Dallas equipment, data, and documents while working remotely. To assist those of you who will be working remotely, please refer to this list of remote work resources and to these tips for working remotely. For those continuing to report to campus, please follow CDC guidelines on social distancing and continue to exercise good hygiene and judgment. Employees who feel ill should stay home.

Please contact your supervisor with any questions or concerns you may have about changes in your work assignment. As previously announced, the University will make accommodations for faculty and staff who have concerns about exposure to COVID-19 because of their health, age, or other factors or who are unable to return to campus due to self-isolation.

I am very proud of how our community has responded in the face of these unprecedented challenges, and I know that in the coming days and weeks you will continue to demonstrate the professionalism and commitment to service that define UT Dallas. Thank you.

Please continue to check our website frequently for all updates to our campus response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
