A message from the president of UT Dallas.
The University of Texas at Dallas - Office of the President

March 13, 2020

UT Dallas faculty and staff:

At this time, the University plans to maintain normal business operations throughout the extended spring break period and beyond. We believe that adding an additional week to spring break and moving to online delivery of all classes are significant social-distancing measures, which should help slow the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. However, it is possible that public officials may advise us to ask all nonessential personnel to work remotely as an additional social-distancing measure. Further, we may be asked to implement this measure on very short notice.

In this event, access to campus will be restricted to essential personnel, including those faculty, staff and graduate students necessary to maintain our research enterprise, and to students who are living on campus. Campus housing and dining functions will continue with limited operations. Employees should confirm with their supervisors whether they should report to campus or work remotely in the event we are asked to restrict campus access. Staff members not considered essential personnel should discuss with their supervisors any expectations for working remotely, for monitoring email and other forms of communication to be able to respond to business needs, and for protecting UTD equipment, data and documents when working remotely. Information on remote work resources can be found here.

Out of an abundance of caution and as part of our campuswide preparedness efforts, starting today and until further notice, please take whatever technology and/or materials you need to work remotely home with you on a daily basis.

Again, at this time, campus remains open, and we plan to continue business as usual. We will notify the entire campus community in the event this plan changes.

Please continue to check our website frequently for all updates to our campus response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
