A message from the president of UT Dallas.
The University of Texas at Dallas - Office of the President

March 2, 2020

Dear UT Dallas Community,

We are closely monitoring the global outbreak of COVID-19, the illness caused by a new coronavirus, and the latest travel restrictions.

Currently, there are no known cases within the UT Dallas community. However, it is important that we remain healthy and stay informed. To that end, a website has been launched to serve as a hub for all UT Dallas information on the coronavirus outbreak and will be updated periodically with new information as it becomes available. Links to this page can be found on the UT Dallas homepage and the landing pages for eLearning and Galaxy.

As this situation evolves, we should continue to follow the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly with soap and water, especially before eating or preparing food, after going to the bathroom and after you have been around someone who is sick. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you are unable to wash with soap and water.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Avoid sharing dishes, glasses and utensils.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw it away.
  • Stay home and do not go to class or to work if you are sick.
Also, with spring break approaching and some planning to travel, please take into account the guidance issued by the U.S. Department of State and the CDC.

This is a challenging time for the world, our country and our community. The uncertainty you may be experiencing can take a personal toll — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Our strength as a community is in our diversity and in our support and respect for one another. I encourage us all to be diligent in taking care of ourselves and each other.
