Rutford Closure

December 19, 2019

The new year will bring big changes in vehicular and pedestrian traffic routes to support both the Sciences Building construction as well the Campus Landscape Enhancement Project (CLEP [Campus Landscape Enhancement Project] ) Phase III.

In support of the Sciences Building construction, effective December 30 2019, a portion of Rutford Ave. between the new building and the Central Energy Plant (EP) will be closed until April 1 2020. During this time, it will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The intersection at Rutford Ave. and Drive D will also be closed. Those needing to access Rutford Ave. from the west will need to do so from either Franklyn Jenifer Dr. to the south or Synergy/Loop Rd. to the north.

The parking lot in front of Physics Building (PHY), Lot L, will also be permanently closed.

Access to Rutford Ave. from the west through this intersection will be permanently closed starting December 30 2019. Southbound Rutford Ave. from Loop Rd. will be permanently restricted to service and emergency vehicles only starting January 6 2020.

As a part of CLEP [Campus Landscape Enhancement Project] , Rutford Ave. will become a pedestrian promenade and vehicle traffic will be largely restricted once this project is complete.

A portion of eastbound Drive D from Rutford Ave. will be re-opened, only for pedestrian traffic, on December 30. This route will be fully wheelchair accessible.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this process. We will update you in the new year.
