Create an SSH connection

SSH allows a secure connection to remote servers and provides you with a command line interface at that server. These are the instructions on how to establish an SSH connection with the giant server.

Note: giant cannot be accessed outside the university network. To connect to giant from any other network, you must first connect to the VPN. Instructions for connecting to UTD VPN can be found in the Network section of the How To page.

Public SSH: PubSSH is a public-facing SSH/SFTP server. Although the UTD VPN is not needed to access PubSSH, you will need to use NetIDplus two factor authentication in order to login. The hostname is pubssh.utdallas.edu.
