Michael Tong Named Student Worker of the Year
The Office of Information Technology’s student assistant, Michael Tong, has been recognized for his outstanding leadership and contribution to the Production Support team by being named Student Worker of the Year. Michael, a senior from Garland who will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, will be honored at the Student Leadership Awards ceremony on April 22.
Each year, leadership awards are given to students and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to UT Dallas. The awards are intended to recognize and honor students’ hard work and pay tribute to their achievement on campus and in the community.
As a student assistant for the Production Support team, Michael supports the workflow automation, assisting in delivering complete workflows. During his eight months of working with the Production Support team, Michael has developed PowerShell scripts to provide capabilities including passing encrypted credentials across domains, automating the conversion of Microsoft Word documents to PDF, and performing cURL transmissions.
“Michael has made a significant contribution to the team with his desire, inquisitive nature, dedicated work ethic and friendly nature,” Debbie Greszler, Production Support Manager said. “Michael’s approach and attitude are why he has been so impactful on the Production Support team. He has a wonderful career ahead of him and will be surely missed when he graduates.”
