The Dallas Forget Me Not 2001 Chess Tournament will take place at the Renaissance Dallas-Richardson Hotel in Richardson (located on the access drive on the east side of North Central Expressway, just north of Campbell Road) on Saturday, Sept. 29, with all proceeds generated from entry fees, concession and raffles benefiting the Partnership for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth.

The tournament is sponsored by the School of General Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas and is targeted toward scholastic chess players who have not played in a rated tournament, but also is open to seasoned players preparing for the National Scholastic Chess Championship.

In addition to a silent auction and raffles for prizes donated by The Franklin Mint, E-Bay, the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars, autographed chess sets from UTD’s No. 1 ranked collegiate chess team will be available.

Representatives from the UTD chess team, including coach Rade Milovanovic will be onsite to analyze games. In addition, several UTD chess team members will serve as tournament directors.

All tournament sections will be rated, and United States Chess Federation membership is required to participate. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m., with the first round starting at 9 a.m. The tournament will conclude at approximately 5 p.m. Entry fee is $12.
