Staff and students got zany with the mud last week during Oozeball 2012: The Biggest Oozer.

Oozeball is essentially volleyball played in the mud. The single-elimination tournament featured 27 teams vying for the Muddy Cup. The winning team for the second time in a row was Whooshers, who beat the second-place team Desi Boyz.

After winning the championship, Whooshers played the faculty and staff team as part of an annual tradition. The winning team’s name is put on the Coleman Cup, established in 2006 by then-Dean of Undergraduate Education Dr. Michael Coleman. On Friday, the students dominated in the game, winning the Coleman Cup for the first time since 2010.

This was the first time the tournament has been played in the fall since its inception in 2002. The event was organized by the UT Dallas Student Ambassadors led by Ooze Chair Diane Henry, a graduate student studying accounting.
