UTD To Dedicate New Engineering & Computer Science Building Nov. 12

The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), one of the fastest growing public universities in the country, will formally dedicate a 152,000-square-foot addition to the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The ceremonies will be held in Room 2.102 of the new building on Rutford Avenue.

The addition, which was paid for by a combination of public and private funds, is expected to double the size of the Jonsson School to more than 6,000 students in the next five years.

Among the dignitaries expected to attend the dedication ceremonies are Mark Yudof, chancellor of The University of Texas System, members of the Board of Regents and officials of other component institutions of the UT System. UTD President Dr. Franklyn Jenifer will preside over the ceremonies.

UTD’s engineering and computer science school is named for Erik Jonsson, former mayor of Dallas and one of the three founders of both Texas Instruments and the research institute that later became UTD.
