UT Dallas Ranks 3rd Among Texas Public Universities in New List
American City Business Journals Considered Admissions, Graduation Rates, Affordability, Diversity in Rankings
The American City Business Journals employed a 19-part formula to determine which schools offer the best educational experiences to their students.
UT Dallas has been named among the top public universities in the nation by the American City Business Journals.
UT Dallas ranked 46th out of 484 public universities and colleges nationwide. The three Texas universities listed in the top 100 were UT Austin (12th), Texas A&M (20th) and UT Dallas (46). The next highest Texas institution in the ranking was Texas Tech University at No. 117.
“We are earning our growing reputation for excellence by recruiting highly qualified students and faculty and giving them a quality experience at a very good value,” UT Dallas President Dr. David E. Daniel told the Dallas Business Journal.
The Business Journals assessed the colleges and universities using the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. College rankings recently issued by four national publications — Forbes, Kiplinger’s, U.S. News & World Report and Washington Monthly — were also considered.
The Business Journals employed a 19-part formula to determine which schools offer the best educational experiences to their students. It gave the highest marks to schools with highly selective admissions processes, strong retention and graduation rates, prestigious reputations, affordable tuition and housing costs, diverse faculties and student bodies, and economically robust communities.
UT Dallas received five stars (out of five) for selectivity and costs, and four stars for advancement, prestige and community.
“Our top priority is to provide affordable, high-quality educational experiences for our students, while maintaining academic rigor and research excellence,” Daniel said. “We continually measure our own progress toward these goals in a number of ways and we are certainly gratified to see our efforts also reflected in national rankings.”
The top five ranked public colleges were the University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, the University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, and the University of California, Berkeley.
The American City Business Journals operates 40 business newspapers and websites in cities stretching from Washington to San Francisco, and from Austin to Albany.
