UT Dallas is ranked as one of the top values among the nation's public universities. For its list, Kiplinger’s considers the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate, among other factors. The University has an average student-to-faculty ratio of 21-to-1.

The University of Texas at Dallas has been ranked as one of the top 100 best values among the nation’s public universities according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine.

One of only four public Texas schools to make the 2017 list, the University rose to 32nd, up from 33rd in 2016.

“We pride ourselves on attracting high-caliber students to learn and study here on our campus,” said Dr. Richard Benson, UT Dallas president. “This recognition from Kiplinger’s as one of the top values in higher education reflects our efforts not only to provide students with excellent opportunities, but to do so at a great value. And the value of a UT Dallas degree will continue to increase as we position ourselves among the top academic institutions in the country.”

For the rankings, Kiplinger’s considers admission rate, the percentage of students who return for their sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and four-year graduation rate. UT Dallas also was chosen for its high four-year graduation rate, low average student debt at graduation, abundant financial aid, a low sticker price and overall value.

“There’s no way around it: College is expensive, and it’s going to stay that way for a long time. So, with our rankings — which weigh affordability alongside academic quality — our goal is to help students and their parents understand what’s really worth the price,” said Janet Bodnar, editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. “While some may have ranked higher than others, all 300 schools on the list are of extraordinary value, being chosen out of a universe of 1,200.”

The other public Texas universities to make the list are The University of Texas at Austin (No. 13), Texas A&M University (No. 42) and Texas Tech University (No. 96).
