Memories on the Mall 2013

Natasha Ghosh celebrated graduating with a master's degree in human development and early childhood disorders during Memories on the Mall after her fall ceremony.

Friends and family will celebrate the accomplishments of more than 3,800 graduates next week when The University of Texas at Dallas honors its latest graduates with a record nine commencement ceremonies May 15-17.

The three-day event will accommodate the largest graduation cohort in UT Dallas history. Among those expected to receive degrees are 1,926 undergraduates, 1,856 master’s students and 65 doctoral candidates.

The total includes 3,167 spring graduates and 400 summer graduates. Approximately 280 fall graduates are opting to walk the stage this May after last semester’s rescheduling of graduation due to icy weather.

After next week’s graduation ceremonies, the University will have conferred more than 93,800 degrees during its 44-year history.

The largest of UT Dallas’ seven schools, the Naveen Jindal School of Management, is expected to award the most diplomas, 1,615, during its three ceremonies.

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science is expected to award 762 degrees in its two ceremonies. Next are the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences with 469; the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics with 360; the School of Arts and Humanities with 299; the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences with 237; and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies with 105.

In keeping with UT Dallas tradition, students have been chosen as commencement speakers. UT Dallas President David E. Daniel also will address the graduates, their families, friends and supporters.

At the conclusion of each ceremony, graduates and well-wishers are invited to adjourn to Memories on the Mall, a tradition honoring the University’s newest alumni. The event will include refreshments, photo opportunities and giveaways.

Those unable to attend the ceremonies can watch a live video stream of the proceedings online.
