dining options

Here are the new UT Dallas dining spots that are expected to be open by early fall semester. For more information on all the dining options on campus, click here.

The campus community can expect not only more dining locations this fall, but more diversity in food choices, more healthy options and late-night offerings.

The new Dining Hall West will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to students, faculty and staff from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday. On the weekends, brunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner will be offered from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The dining hall features seating for 750 guests, more cooking stations and dedicated areas for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and other dietary needs. Diners can choose from a wide variety of food options, including Comet waffles, a pasta station, salad bar, sandwiches, bakery items, frozen yogurt, espresso machines, wok-prepared meals and Vietnamese noodle soup.

The Dining Hall West building is also the new home of Papa John’s Pizza, which has moved from the Comet Café in the Student Union to an expanded location that will offer full-size and individual pizzas. A convenience store in the building will provide grab-and-go options, fresh fruit, snacks, smoothies, milkshakes, soft drinks, frozen food and more. New color-coded packaging will help diners easily identify vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options in all grab-and-go areas on campus.

Papa John’s and the convenience store will be open until 1 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 10 p.m. on Sunday.

At the Student Union, its dining hall will be open only for lunch Monday through Friday, while the Comet Café and Outtakes will retain the same fall hours. Outtakes also will be renovated to include a new pita bar with vegetarian options and more refrigerated sections for grab-and-go meals and sushi.

A concept called Create will take over the former Papa John’s space in the Student Union and offer made-to-order salads and spuds. Create is expected to open soon after the start of the semester. The Pub will have a new menu that includes both traditional and healthy options.

New Dining Discount

Participants in the UT Dallas Dining Services Dining Dollars program will now receive a 10 percent discount on food purchases at all on-campus dining locations.

Faculty, staff and students can purchase Dining Dollars online at any time in $20 increments. The balance is automatically loaded to the purchaser’s Comet Card and can be used as a debit card for food purchases.

The new discount is just one of the perks of carrying your ID card with you. A Comet Card can also provide discounted admission at local movie theaters, amusement parks, sporting events and museums. To get discounted tickets, visit the Comet Card Center on the second floor of the Student Union, just inside from the plinth stairs.

In the new Parking Structure 3, Einstein Bros Bagels will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Menu options range from baked goods and coffee to soups, salads and sandwiches. An IHOP Express, which is expected to be another late-night dining option, is tentatively scheduled to open in the parking structure in late spring.

Other lunch options include the UT Dallas Food Truck, which will be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday near the Naveen Jindal School of Management and the Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology buildings. It will be open those same hours near the Eugene McDermott Library for $5 Fridays. The UT Dallas Hot Dog Cart will be near Berkner Hall and the Engineering and Computer Science buildings from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

A Jason’s Deli is tentatively scheduled to open in the Jindal School sometime during the fall semester.

All menus, hours and nutritional information are available online. Specials are often announced on social media @UTDallasDining and on the UT Dallas Dining and The Pub Facebook pages.
