Leadership Awards Recognize Outstanding Contributions
Pavan Kumar Kanteti received the Student Leader of the Year Award and Mary Beth Goodrich earned the Advisor of the Year Award.
Four students, an advisor and a student organization at UT Dallas have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to campus life at the Student Leadership Awards.
The annual awards highlight the University’s commitment to helping students develop the leadership skills they will need for the future, said Beth Roller, assistant director of Student Leadership Programs.
“It’s such a joy to be able to come together to celebrate a few of the many outstanding leaders at UT Dallas,” Roller said. “The awards provide a special opportunity for faculty, staff and students to recognize the impact of our student leaders, student organizations and organizational advisors in making UT Dallas the incredible place that it is.”
The Student Leader of the Year Award was presented to Pavan Kumar Kanteti, a graduate student in information technology and management in the Naveen Jindal School of Management, for his leadership and dedication in working with other students.
“During the past several semesters I have had the pleasure to work with Pavan. He has impressed me with his leadership, hard work, ability to organize and encourage students, and his contributions to effect positive change in the University community,” read one of his nomination letters.
The other awards given were:
The Patty Atchley Service to Student Life Award — Charlie Hannigan, senior, School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. This award honors students who go above and beyond the call of duty to improve student life at UT Dallas.
Community Service Award — Aneesh Venkataraman, graduate student, Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. This award recognizes outstanding service to the community.
Rising Star Award — Trevor “Roman” Doyle, sophomore, School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. This award honors freshmen and sophomores who have shown outstanding leadership abilities.
Advisor of the Year Award — Mary Beth Goodrich, advisor to Ascend and senior lecturer in accounting, Naveen Jindal School of Management. This award recognizes outstanding dedication and service.
The Golden Comet Award — Infinity Lions Club. This award honors a student organization for its positive impact on the campus and surrounding community.
