Dr. Xiang Bing, founding dean of China’s first private, nonprofit and independent business school, will discuss “Globalization of the Chinese Economy” on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The lecture, sponsored by The Confucius Institute at The University of Texas at Dallas, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Jonsson Performance Hall.
Xiang writes frequently on the challenges of globalization for Chinese firms. He has played a critical role in helping Chinese and foreign business companies forge cooperative ventures, and has been touring the States to help business leaders in China and the U.S. to expand business operations in both countries.
Xiang earned his bachelor’s in engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University and a doctorate in business administration from the University of Alberta. He specializes in comparative corporate systems, corporate governance, the transition and management of state-owned enterprises, private enterprise business models, and corporate competitiveness in emerging markets.
Dr. Ming Dong Gu, director of The Confucius Institute at UT Dallas, expects the lecture to benefit both U.S. and Chinese business people.
“Dean Xiang’s business school [Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business] has a large number of alumni who are top business leaders in China and want to expand their business operations to the U.S.,” Gu said. “They have a viable alumni business network both in and out of China.”
