Webpage, Banner Year of Branding, Events Will Mark 50th Anniversary
The campus community will notice a spirit of celebration throughout the 2019-2020 academic year as The University of Texas at Dallas marks its 50th anniversary.
On June 13, 1969, Gov. Preston Smith signed Texas House Bill 303 that established UT Dallas.
A yearlong celebration, which kicked off Aug. 18 at University Convocation, will mark this significant milestone, officially culminating with spring commencement ceremonies in May.
Several campuswide events this year will have a nod to the University’s 50 years. Highlights of upcoming celebratory events include:
- Founders Day – Oct. 29
- Fall commencement – Dec. 16-19
- 50th Anniversary Richardson Symphony Orchestra Concert – May 2
- Spring commencement – May 11-14
A new interactive webpage dedicated to the 50th anniversary reflects the progress the University has made over the years. Complete with a timeline of memorable events, profiles of each of the five UT Dallas presidents, highlights of major milestones and an interactive map of campus development, the webpage also features historic audio and video.
A special toolkit with guidelines on how to use the UTD 50th mark is online and accessible at the UT Dallas brand standards website. These tips will help achieve consistency across print and digital platforms and throughout academic and departmental units.
The anniversary mark features the “50” prominently with the UTD monogram/emblem nestled within the zero. The campus is encouraged to use the 50 years logo in digital, print and promotional usage to brand various events to mark the yearlong celebration.
