UT Dallas' Redman to Discuss Controversial
Poet Ezra Pound on Australian National Radio

An interview with Dr. Tim Redman, a professor of literary studies at The University of Texas at Dallas, will be part of a program about the late, controversial American expatriate poet Ezra Pound to be aired by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's (ABC) Radio National on Saturday, Oct. 7.

Redman, the author of Ezra Pound and Italian Fascism (Cambridge University Press, 1991), is recognized as one of the world's leading Pound scholars. He currently is at work on a biography of the poet.

ABC Radio National, on its Saturday afternoon poetry program PoeticA, will examine whether Pound's legacy in modern poetry should be overshadowed by his political views, which included support for Mussolini's fascism.

ABC Radio National conducted interviews with some of the leading Pound scholars, including Redman, at the 21st Ezra Pound International Conference held in July 2005 in Rapallo, Italy. In addition to the interviews, the program will feature readings of Pound's poetry.

Once the program has been broadcast, it can be accessed via the Internet at http://www.abc.net.au/rn/poetica/.
