Winter Arts Festival To Be Held At UTD Dec. 7 and 8

 

RICHARDSON, Texas (Nov. 16, 2001) - The Winter Arts Festival, an extravaganza that features the work of more than 700 students from 35 courses in music, visual arts, theatre and dance at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), will be held in the University Theatre, Jonsson Performance Hall and the Visual Arts Building on the UTD campus Dec. 7 and 8.

An art exhibition will open the festival in the Visual Arts Building at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, with a reception. The classes that will exhibit their works are Visual Elements, The Creative Process, Drawing Concepts, Beginning Painting, Continuing Painting, B&W Photography, Color Photography, Figure Sculpture, Computer Music and Printmaking.

The same evening, the following recitals will take place in the Jonsson Performance Hall: Guitar Ensemble from 6:30 to 7, Group Voice from 7 to 7:30, Individual Voice from 7:30 to 8, Chamber Singers from 8 to 8:30 and Musical Theatre Workshop from 8:30 to 9. Also on Friday night, the University Theatre will host Jazz Ensemble from 6:30 to 7:15, Dance Ensembles including Movement and Body, Modern Dance and Jazz Dance beginning at 7:30 p.m. and Acting at 8:30.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Jonsson Performance Hall will host the following concerts: String Ensemble from 4 to 4:30 p.m., Wind Ensemble from 4:30 to 5 p.m. and Community Chorus from 5 to 5:30 p.m. A reception will be held in the Visual Arts Building from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by Acting & Directing in the Media Room in the Visual Arts Building.
