“Only A Game” Program To Air at 2 pm. Saturday,
Can Be Heard In Dallas Area on KERA - 90.1 FM

Show Will Run Nationally on Hundreds of Stations


The University of Texas at Dallas’ national champion chess team, which will compete Dec. 26-29 in Providence, R.I., in the Pan American Intercollegiate Team Championship, will be featured on National Public Radio’s “Only A Game” program on Saturday, Dec. 22.

The show will air nationally on hundreds of stations. It can be heard in the Dallas area on KERA - 90.1 FM - at 2 p.m.

KERA’s Glenn Mitchell did the segment on the UTD chess program for “Only A Game.”

The U.S. Chess Federation named UTD “Chess College of the Year” in 2001. UTD tied for first place with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in last year’s Pan Am tournament, which was held in Milwaukee, Wis.

UTD also won the “Final Four” of chess in 2001.
