The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania held its firm grip on the No. 1 spot in The UT Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings for 2013™ released Wednesday by the Naveen Jindal School of Management.

Harvard University, No. 2, and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, No. 3, also maintained their places in separate annual rankings of schools in North America and worldwide. Both sets of rankings measure business school research productivity by tracking contributions in leading publications.

The Naveen Jindal School of Management compiles the rankings from a database of faculty research published in 24 major peer-reviewed journals. The index scoring system measures single and multiple authors and their university affiliations.

Current-year standings, determined March 11, are based on articles published from 2008 to 2012. The Wharton School has topped the rankings since the index was created in 2005. This year it received the top score of 192.21, with 357 articles. Harvard’s score was 123.221, with 228 articles.
