Reunion: The Dallas Review, a literary journal published by the School of Arts and Humanities, is celebrating the release of the first volume under its new name.

The journal has printed short fiction, drama, visual art, poetry, translation work, non-fiction and interviews for two decades under the name Sojourn. As Reunion, the journal has a new look and a new name but remains committed to promoting the work of talented writers and artists, both locally and beyond.

Matthew Bondurant

Dr. Matthew Bondurant is the journal’s faculty adviser.

Reunion is edited by students in the School of Arts and Humanities, and Dr. Matt Bondurant, professor of creative writing, serves as the faculty adviser.

“The journal is an indication of the seriousness and dedication our students and faculty bring to the study and practice of creative writing. Since taking the faculty helm of the journal and introducing a new name and format to the publication, Professor Matt Bondurant has provided an exceptional organ, one in which our students and entire university can take pride,” said Dr. Clay Reynolds, director of the creative writing program.

Reunion Launch Party

Reunion is hosting a launch party Friday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building. Editors and contributors to the journal will read pieces selected for the inaugural edition, and the art collective 14+1, a group consisting of 14 current or former UT Dallas students, will be showing the exhibit Confirm and Deny

“When artists collaborate, they entertain the unplanned and the unwritten. Limitations become possibilities and the unexpected a welcome stranger. Through a mixture of painting, sculpture, video, photography, installation and performance, 14+1 will bring such possibilities to life,” said Andy Amato, who finished his doctorate in history of ideas earlier this year.

The event is free and open to the public, and free food and drinks will be available.
