If free food is the way to a student’s heart, the new dean of undergraduate education, Dr. Sheila Amin Gutiérrez de Piñeres, and the new dean of students, Dr. Gene Fitch, are in luck.

“Dine with the Deans,” a monthly event set to kick off Wednesday in The Pub, will feature informal conversation between University administrators and students about topics important to students. The event—complete with free appetizers—will give students the opportunity to discuss anything they wish about the University:  what they enjoy now, new programs they would like to see developed and suggestions for improvement.

Piñeres said the deans are looking forward to introducing themselves to students and talking face to face.

“We possess an extremely intelligent and creative student body that Dr. Fitch and I intend to consult as we examine current programs and processes,” Piñeres said.  “We seek to improve University programs and practices by proactively gathering input from students.  Open communication and dialogue is the only way to ensure we move forward as a University while considering our students’ needs.”

Fitch said he looks forward to connecting with students.

“Dine with the Deans gives us a chance to get out of our offices and meet with students in a more informal and personal level to discuss the things that matter to them,” Fitch said.

The deans will pass out Studio Movie Grill tickets and other giveaways while supplies last.  Dine with the Deans is open to all students and will take place every third Wednesday of the month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in The Pub.
