The Comets have traveled to Wisconsin to make their second consecutive appearance in a NCAA Division III “Sweet 16” playoff game.

UT Dallas will square off against UW-Stevens Point, the host institution, on Friday at 8 p.m.  The Comets have a 24-5 record this year and are ranked No. 19 in the nation.

Carthage College and Illinois Wesleyan University will lock horns in Friday’s other sectional contest.  The winners of each game meet in  the “Elite Eight” round of the Division III tournament in Stevens Point on Saturday.

The Comets pulled off a 63-62 last-minute win over Wheaton College on Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16 for the second time in as many years.

UT Dallas edged Capital University in the third round last season before falling to Guilford College in a game that would have sent the Comets on their maiden voyage to the Final Four.

The Comet have won 17 of their last 19 games.  They have never faced UW-Stevens Point.

The Pointers captured their second-straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship on Feb. 27 by clipping UW-Whitewater, 63-57.
