Minimum Qualifications
- Required standardized test score (one or more of the following)
- 1490 or higher on the new-style two-part SAT (verbal and math)
- OR 34 or higher on the ACT
- OR National Merit Semifinalist
- First-time college freshman
- AP, IB, CLEP, and Dual-Credit acceptable
- Current UT Dallas students or Transfer students not eligible
All McDermott Scholars applicants must apply to UT Dallas before Sunday, December 1, 2019.
Additional Considerations
- A class rank in the top five percent of their graduating class
- Long records of leadership in school and community volunteerism
- Broad and eclectic interests in science, literature, and the arts
- Social skills to interact easily with adults as well as peers
- Individuals who are dedicated to the pursuit of achieving the energy and wellbeing necessary to support a sustained commitment to balance, active engagement, and success in the Program.
Students who meet these qualifications have a stronger chance of being invited to McDermott Finalists' Weekend.
The program welcomes all majors. Applications are accepted from across Texas, the U.S., and the world.
