Professional Development Partnership Between St. Anthony School and the UTD Mathematical Sciences Department
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has awarded the St. Anthony School, a charter school in south Dallas, a grant for Improving Student Achievement in Mathematics through Professional Development Partnership, in collaboration with the UTD Mathematical Sciences Department.
The purpose of Professional Development Partnership grants is to establish partnerships between high-need schools and the mathematics departments of institutions of higher learning.
Dr. Joanna Robinson and William Scott of the UTD Mathematical Sciences Department, will conduct a workshop to increase and strengthen the mathematics content knowledge of St. Anthony's math teachers as well as training them in implementing proven, effective classroom strategies for mathematics instruction.
The workshop will take place over eight Saturday sessions during 2005-06 academic year, as well as two trips to the school itself to give practical and constructive support in how the training is being put into effect.
