09.18.2017

Sept. 7 marked the opening of the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center. The day began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and ended with a lively evening celebration.
Keep an eye out on the fall 2017 UT Dallas Magazine for an inside look at the new facility!

In the meantime, here are some of the day’s highlights:

UT Dallas President Richard C. Benson (right) joined Nancy Gundy Davidson BS’80 and Charles “Chuck” Davidson MS’80 in cutting the ribbon on the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center, as Dr. David E. Daniel (far left), former UTD president, watches. The Davidsons’ $15 million gift seeded the creation of the center.

Invited guests attended a dinner in the new center.

Guests mingled in Texas Instruments Inspiration Hall.

Atypical Texas summer weather made for a pleasant evening on the center’s Porch.

The Porch features plenty of seating, some of which is — literally — UTD themed.

Guests gathered for dinner in the ballroom. The beverage list featured a wine by Christopher Grider MFA’12 of Kissing Tree Vineyards. (He and his winery were highlighted in the spring 2017 UT Dallas Magazine.)

Those attending a concert on the center’s lawn were treated to snacks during the performance.

The day’s festivities were capped off with a free concert by disco band Le Freak on The Green (the center’s lawn area).
