Homecoming 2019 Is Upon Us

The UT Dallas community will show off its Comet spirit during 2019 Homecoming activities Nov. 13-16.

Highlights of the 26th annual event will include a fashion show, nighttime 5K run, talent show, parade, film screening, cardboard boat regatta and plenty of music, games, food and giveaways.

The Homecoming Sneak Peek will have music from Radio UTD, light refreshments, giveaways and the Farmer’s Market Popup from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Plinth.

A new chalk art contest on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Chess Plaza will give students the opportunity to draw what UT Dallas will look like 50 years from now. A fashion show at 2 p.m. will highlight Comet merchandise for sale at the Bookstore. That evening, the Homecoming 5K will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Events on Thursday, Nov. 14 include the Comets Got Talent show at 7 p.m. in the Galaxy Rooms where students will have 10-minute slots to sing, dance, read poetry, play an instrument, juggle or do comedy. A free screening of “Spider Man: Far from Home” will be shown at 8 p.m. that evening in the Student Services Addition Auditorium. Also, students can decorate their parade floats from 8-11 p.m. in Lot T.

The Homecoming Parade will begin at noon Friday, Nov. 15 along Rutford Avenue, featuring custom-designed golf carts, cars, trucks, live music and loads of Comet spirit. An after party will begin at 1 p.m. in the Visitors Center Atrium with food and drinks. The always-popular Cardboard Boat Regatta will begin at 6 p.m. in the Activity Center natatorium, with entries made entirely of duct tape and cardboard.

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Homefest concert, tailgate party and Comet Street will have food, music, games, rides, caricature artists and a limited supply of freebies from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Lot J. The women’s basketball team will take on the Southwestern Pirates at 2 p.m. in the Activity Center gym.
