R. David Crain is responsible for the overall leadership of UT Dallas’ Office of Information Resources function and staff. Crain earned his master’s degree in information systems in 2005 from American College in Birmingham, Alabama, and his bachelor’s degree in communications and political science in 1992 from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Crain has published articles as a Higher Education technology leader in Campus Technology, Information Week Education, and CIO Review. He has been featured in numerous technology conferences and online webinars. His career in Information Technology management spans over twenty years.

The Financial Services Office was created in the summer of 2011 with the hiring of a director. Primarily an internal function, the purpose is to assist the Information Resources Department with budget, forecasting, business planning and other fiscal and business affairs. The director functions as the IR business manager at the direction of the CIO and may participate in any activity related to the business of the central information resource at UT Dallas.
