Staff Members Launch Virtual Fitness Classes
VFit UTD, a new program launched by staff who are certified fitness instructors, has partnered with University Recreation to offer free virtual fitness classes to the campus community. Tune in via a livestream through Microsoft Teams each workday. New links for the workouts will be posted weekly on the UREC group fitness page.
VFit UTD hopes to see you in the “studio” for one of the following upcoming classes:
Mondays, 8-9 a.m.: Gentle Flow Yoga
Connect your body to your breath in this gentle yoga class that focuses on alignment and creating new space. No mat needed, at home props can be used. All levels are welcome.
Instructor Tiffany Willoughby is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance-certified Vinyasa teacher specializing in alignment and mind body connections. You can find her working in the Office of Research as an events manager during the work week.
Tuesdays, 12:15-1 p.m.: Power Yoga
In this class you will find a place to check out of the world and check in with self through high energy sequences that challenge breath, balance and strength.
Instructor Marie Schier is an RYT 200-hour certified yoga teacher, specializing in Power Yoga/Vinyasa. While not teaching yoga, Marie serves as a program manager in the Student Success Center at UT Dallas, overseeing the PLTL program.
Wednesdays, 8-9 a.m.: Homebody Fitness
Tune in from the comfort of your own home for a total body strength-and-conditioning class utilizing your body weight and everyday household items.
Instructor Rena Piper is a certified group exercise instructor with over 10 years of experience teaching various formats in cardio strength fitness. During the work week, you can find her in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations as the assistant director of University Events.
Thursdays, 12:15-1 p.m.: Cardio Circuit Jam
Part body-weight circuit training, part core development, and part easy movement, this class is all boogie!
Instructor Frankie Branham is the fitness coordinator for University Recreation and has certifications for personal training, group fitness instruction and Pilates. Even though she put away her professional dance shoes a long time ago, she still loves to move.
Friday, 8-9 a.m.: Wild Card Fridays
End your week strong. Join this class for a surprise workout from one of the four VFit UTD instructors.
