New Research Program Emphasizes Safety Across Campus
Research and Academic Safety is introducing an updated approach to safety culture to help improve personal safety and the safety climate on campus.
The program, called RAMPP, aims to educate the UT Dallas community about potential safety and environmental risks not only in labs, but also across campus.
“The RAMPP principle is based on a risk management model developed by the American Chemical Society, which was originally designed for application in academic chemistry laboratories,” said Joan Wickersheim, assistant director for research and academic safety. “Most people recognize that chemistry laboratories can present unique hazards in the research and academic environment, but laboratories aren’t the only places on campus where hazards exist.”
The goal of the new campaign is to raise awareness of how to make safer choices using the RAMPP system to facilitate safety and minimize risk.
