UT Dallas to Serve as Polling Location for Nov. 5 Elections
All Dallas County registered voters may cast their ballots on campus in the Constitutional Amendment Election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The UTD location is a Countywide Vote Center, which means any Dallas County registered voter may vote at the campus polling place regardless of home address. Polls will be open in the Visitor Center Atrium (VCB) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Parking for visiting voters will be available in Lot F. For more information, visit www.dallascountyvotes.org. |

Service Awards Ceremony Set for Nov. 8
The 33rd Annual Service Awards Ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8, in the Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building Lecture Hall (ATC 1.102). Celebrate faculty and staff who are marking five, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years at UT Dallas during the 2019 fiscal year. At a separate event, employees who have reached their 25-year milestone will be inducted into the Quarter Century Club.

President Benson Announces Extra Holiday for Staff, Faculty
At his State of the University Address on Oct. 15, President Richard C. Benson announced the University will observe “At the Speed of Bright Day” on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019. This administrative day off is in recognition of the exemplary work the faculty and staff provide to UT Dallas. Winter break is Dec. 23-Jan. 3.

Volunteers Needed for Commencement, Memories on the Mall
Staff members interested in volunteering at the Fall 2019 Commencement Ceremonies and Memories on the Mall are invited to sign up by Friday, Nov. 29. Commencement roles include greeters, ushers and shuttle guides. Duties for Memories on the Mall include distributing alumni tote bags to graduates and serving refreshments. Available shifts include:

Luncheon Series Continues at Center for Vital Longevity
Join the CVL for the Fall Science Luncheon Series, a brown bag lunch series that takes place at noon on Mondays in the eighth floor conference room at the Center for Vital Longevity during the academic year.

Sign Up to Donate Blood on Nov. 4
The Office of Student Volunteerism is partnering with Carter BloodCare to host a blood drive, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, in the Galaxy Rooms. Register for an appointment.
Carter BloodCare needs to collect 1,100 blood donations every day to have enough blood to help patients in hospitals and transfusion centers across the country. The Roll Up Your Sleeves and Give campaign seeks to increase blood donations during times when donations typically drop.

Corporate Challenge Athletes Score for Special Olympics
Thank you to all staff and faculty who participated in the 2019 City of Richardson Corporate Challenge. Through raffle ticket sales, fundraisers your generous donations, Team UTD contributed $2,075 to the overall Corporate Challenge campaign totaling $297,000 to support Special Olympics Texas.
Also, thanks to Alyssa Galganov for her creative design (at right) to help UTD win the Best T-shirt Design in its division.

Donate Cereal, Peanut Butter, Jelly in November
The Office of Human Resources is sponsoring a month-long food drive to collect cereal, peanut butter and jelly for the Comet Cupboard, a student-run initiative that provides food and personal care items to students in need. The goal is to collect 1,200 items for the Comet Cupboard.

10th Annual Forum on Children and Families, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center — This year’s forum is titled “A Communication Foundation: Building Blocks for Lifelong Literacy” and will feature a keynote address by Dr. Kathy-Hirsh Pasek, author of Becoming Brilliant and Einstein Never Used Flashcards. First-Generation Student Experience Presentation, noon, Friday, Nov. 1, in the Jindal School of Management (JO 4.102) — OUE staff will present results of a spring 2019 first-generation student needs assessment survey, which received a total of 1,272 student responses. The results provided rich quantitative and qualitative data that have guided development of first-generation student programming. RSVP to attend. First-Generation Celebration Day, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, Visitor Center Atrium — The inaugural, campus-wide event is a collaboration between multiple campus departments that will include food, music, games, photo booth, resource fair, jargon dictionary activity and raffle. Donate Hygiene Products, Socks for Those in Need
The Office of Diversity and Community Engagement’s Student Diversity Advisory Council is holding a hygiene product and sock drive to benefit homeless people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area now through November.
Items include socks, menstrual products, dental hygiene items, deodorant and new underwear.
Support the cause by dropping off items in boxes located by the information desks on the second floors of the Student Union and Student Services Building Addition, spreading awareness of the drive, and sending monetary donations to The Office of Diversity and Community Engagement, 800 W. Campbell Road, AD 26, Richardson, Texas 75080.
