Annual Benefits Enrollment July 15-31
Annual Benefits Enrollment for UT Dallas benefits-eligible employees opened on Monday, July 15, and continues through Wednesday, July 31. During this period, you may enroll in or change your Plan Year 2019-2020 insurance benefit elections, sign up for or re-enroll in UT FLEX, and add or remove dependents from your coverage plan. This is a great opportunity to learn what is new and make changes that meet your needs. You can also explore and discover the new My UT Benefits system. You may also add/change your beneficiaries for your Life and AD&D coverage. Beneficiaries posted on the old My UT Benefits are not visible on the new My UT Benefits but are recorded at Dearborn National.
To review your current benefits and enroll for 2019-2020, login to the new My UT Benefits using your UT Dallas Net ID and Password. You may enroll through July 31. The highlights of benefits changes for Plan Year 2019-2020 can be found through the UT System Office of Employee Benefits website.
To learn more, attend the UT Dallas Annual Benefits and Wellness Fair on Monday, July 22, in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms (SU 2.602). For more information about the fair’s schedule of events, My UT Benefits demonstrations, games and prizes, view the event flyer. UT Select/UT Connect participants are encouraged to sign up for Airrosti Evaluation. Individuals who signed up for a Catapult Health checkup must ensure they show up to their appointment to avoid a no-show fee of $160.

Two UTD Professors Named Outstanding Educators for 2019
The University of Texas System Board of Regents has selected 27 exceptional UT educators who best exemplify excellence, innovation and commitment to student success for the 2019 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award.
Two faculty members are from UT Dallas:
- Dr. Noah Sasson, associate professor in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences.
- Dr. Amandeep Sra, senior lecturer II in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
The 2019 Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award will be presented to 27 faculty members from all 14 UT academic and health institutions during the Board of Regents meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 14, in Austin. Each recipient will receive a certificate, a medallion and $25,000 in appreciation of their impact on students and their institutions. Read More

Gain New Skills with LinkedIn Learning Courses
UT Dallas and the McDermott Library have a new tool for staff, faculty and student development called LinkedIn Learning. The free online platform offers access to Lynda.com learning content with more than 12,000 courses on a wide range of topics to help you reach your personal and professional goals.
LinkedIn Learning covers a variety of skills including:
- Business skills: Career development, leadership and management, project management.
- Creative skills: Graphic design, photography, user experience.
- Technical skills: Cloud computing, data science, mobile development.
- Software skills: Excel, Keynote, Office 365, Blender, InDesign, Premiere Pro.
- Programming languages: Python, SQL, Tableau.
You can log in to the portal with your UT Dallas NetID and password and can link your LinkedIn account if you wish.

Purchase Tickets for BrainHealth Events
The Center for BrainHealth invites you to the next Sips & Science lecture, Deception Detection: The Neuroscience of Implicit Bias by Linda Nguyen, 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, July 18. Tickets are $25. Sips & Science's monthly lectures are in the Ellipse at the Brain Performance Institute, 2200 W. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas.
Family Brain Night, 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, will feature light bites and interactive exhibits. Parents will participate in a discussion about BrainHealthy tactics for technology use. Children will engage in "Know-Brainer" activities, games and challenges. Tickets are $12.50 each.

July Food Drive Benefits Community Members
The Office of Student Volunteerism is hosting a Food Drive throughout the month of July, collecting non-perishable food items to benefit Network of Community Ministries’ food pantry. Network distributes emergency food to more than 150 local families per week. Flour, soup and boxed meals are especially needed.
Collection bins are located in the OSV office (SSA 14.431T), the Administration Building (by the second-floor elevator), the Student Union lobby and the Residence Hall North lobby.

Join Book Club for Lively Discussion
The Center for Translation Studies, in partnership with the McDermott Library and UTD Bookstore, invites you to its next Reading the World Book Club meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, in the conference room of McDermott Library’s administrative suite (MC 4.2).
The discussion will be on María Dueñas’s internationally best-selling novel, The Time in Between (2012), translated from Spanish by Daniel Hahn. The book is available for loan from the UTD library and for purchase from the UTD Bookstore.

- Office Etiquette - The Platinum Rule, 10 a.m.-noon, Thursday, July 18 (AD 3.108): Learn how to develop a more positive and cohesive working environment.
- Keep Calm, Cool, and Confident: Learn to Assert Yourself!, 2-4 p.m., Monday, July 22 (AD 3.108): Learn how to draw boundaries, increase self-confidence, generate balanced responses and appreciate other’s perspectives.

- Coffee Hour! Meet Your Librarians, 10:30 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, July 17 (MC 1.204): This informal gathering is a chance for students, staff and librarians to get to know one another.
- Discover the Library, 11 a.m.-noon p.m., Thursday, July 25 (MC 1.204): Discover is the biggest search option at McDermott Library, which can get you started finding articles, books, DVDs, streaming media and tons of other formats. Register for Corporate Challenge, Help Support Special Olympics
Registration for the 2019 Richardson Corporate Challenge is now open. This annual, Olympic-style competition brings local companies and organizations together to raise money for Special Olympics Texas and engage in friendly competition. Download the event schedule and UT Dallas team signup sheet, and email your completed form to [email protected].
- Raise $1,000 for Special Olympics: If you’re unable to participate but would like to help with the fundraising efforts, donate here. Please help Team UTD reach its goal of raising $1,000 for Special Olympians!
- i Fratelli Dough-nation Mondays: A portion of all sales from orders placed at any iFratelli location on July 15, Aug. 5, Aug. 26 and Sept. 15 will go to Special Olympics. Just mention UT Dallas Corporate Challenge when ordering. Orders placed for delivery on a later date will count toward fundraising.
- Raffle Tickets: Corporate Challenge raffle tickets are available for $5. Each ticket buys you a chance to win one of three pairs of roundtrip airline tickets with hotels stays. All sales benefit Special Olympics Texas. Purchase tickets at the Office of Human Resources (AD 3.108) or call ext. 2072 for more information.
On-Campus Mammograms Available on Aug. 14
The UT Southwestern Mobile Mammography Unit will be on campus from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the loading zone north of the Activity Center. To schedule an appointment, faculty, staff and spouses may call 214-645-2560 or 866-277-0710 with their health insurance information. Sponsored mammograms are available for patients without health care coverage. For more information, email Taylor Tran.
