COMETogether with the Comet community and take part in the third annual Comets Giving Day on Tuesday, April 2. Alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends are joining forces to support 50 participating groups across campus.

Sign up to be a digital ambassador. Tools will be provided to you to promote Comets Giving Day via email and social media. The ambassador who gets the largest number of gifts will win an Apple iPad.
Use #COMETogetherUTD on social media throughout the days leading up to April 2; please set your Comets Giving Day posts to public so everyone can see them.
Take part in challenges and check back to see when more are added leading up to April 2.
Download your Comets Giving Day sign, personalize it and post a picture on social media using the caption #COMETogetherUTD and/or send to [email protected] so we can share.
Participants will be eligible for bonus funds for their chosen area of support.
Get creative with the Comets Giving Day Door Decorating Contest and vote for your favorite on the UT Dallas Alumni Facebook page.

Free Attorney Seminar for LGBT+ Students, Staff, Faculty
Attorney and alumna Katie Sprinkle BA’90 will present a seminar from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in the Center for Students in Recovery meeting room (SSA 14.270B). Sprinkle is experienced in assisting students with name and gender marker changes. She will speak about the process and considerations for faculty, staff and students looking to change their documents. Email Matthew Winser-Johns for more information.

Employee LGBTQ+ Mixer and Upcoming Service Project
QuTD, the LGBTQ+ employee resource group on campus, will hold a social mixer at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, at Northside Drafthouse and Eatery. All LGBTQ+ faculty and staff (and allies) are encouraged to attend.
QuTD also will host a service event on Thursday, April 11 to make “power pack” hygiene kits for Dallas’ homeless youth through the Promise House Street Outreach Program. Sign up for the QuTD mailing list to receive information about needed items and drop-off locations. Donations to purchase items also will be accepted during Comets Giving Day.

Chefs to Showcase Super Foods at Lunch and Learn
Learn how to prepare healthy meals with “super foods” at a Wellness Lunch and Learn from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, April 4, in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms (SU 2.602B).
Dining Services chefs Gene Christiano and Mike Tyler will teach you how to prepare a meal with salmon and leafy greens. Space is limited; please RSVP by Friday, March 29.

International Students' Perspectives on Academic Adjustment, noon-1 p.m., Thursday, March 28 (MC 2.410) — International students will share their experiences adjusting to U.S. academic culture. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with current students to discuss various intercultural factors and implications for teaching that impact an international student’s success in the classroom. Keep Calm, Cool, and Confident: Learn to Assert Yourself! 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, April 23 (AD 3.108): Learn to communicate assertively while respecting the rights of others.
Another Fine Mess — Dealing With Stress in the Workplace, 2-4 p.m., Thursday, April 25 (AD 3.108): Look at the root causes of stress and learn ways to alleviate it.

Volunteers Needed for Commencement, Memories on the Mall
Staff members interested in volunteering at the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies and Memories on the Mall are invited to sign up by Friday, April 26. Commencement roles include greeters, ushers and shuttle guides. Duties for Memories on the Mall include distributing alumni tote bags to graduates and serving refreshments.
Available shifts include:
Tuesday, May 14
- Commencement: 7:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m., 12:45-3:30 p.m., 3:15-6 p.m. or all day (7:45 a.m.-6 p.m.)
- Memories on the Mall: 9:45-11 a.m., 12:15-1:30 p.m., 2:45-4 p.m. or 5:15-6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 15
- Commencement: 7:45 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 10:15 a.m.-1 p.m., 12:45-3:30 p.m. or all day (7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)

Gain New Skills with LinkedIn Learning Courses
UT Dallas and the McDermott Library have a new tool for staff, faculty and student development called LinkedIn Learning. The free online platform offers access to Lynda.com learning content with more than 12,000 courses on a wide range of topics to help you reach your personal and professional goals.
You can log in to the portal with your UT Dallas NetID and password and can link your LinkedIn account if you wish.
Attend Open House in New Human Resources Office
The Office of Human Resources invites staff and faculty to attend its Open House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, March 29 in its new office location (AD 3.108). This come-and-go event is a perfect opportunity to meet new HR members and see the new office in the Administration Building. If you plan to attend, please RSVP.
