Kyle Edgington Named VP for Alumni Relations, Development

Kyle Edgington

Dr. Kyle Edgington has been named the new vice president for development and alumni relations after a national search. He will oversee the University's fundraising and alumni outreach efforts.

Edgington has been UT Dallas' associate vice president for development since April 2015. He was appointed to the position after serving as a visiting clinical professor who taught organizational behavior, management of nonprofit organizations and fundraising certificate courses in the Naveen Jindal School of Management.

In 2011, Edgington secured the two largest alumni gifts in UT Dallas' history while serving as assistant dean of the School of Management. Under his leadership, alumni Naveen Jindal MBA'92, Chuck Davidson MS'80 and Nancy Gundy Davidson BS'80 contributed an unprecedented combined gift of $30 million to the school. Read more

Inclement Weather, Emergency Closing Procedures Ahead

With the winter season approaching, the campus community is asked to make note of the best ways to stay informed if inclement weather or other events require changes in campus schedules.

UT Dallas is open for normal business operations and instructional activities unless indicated otherwise on the University's home page.

Employees and students are expected to exercise judgment regarding their ability to travel safely to campus when inclement weather is in the area. Read more

Employee Charitable Campaign Raises More Than $100,000

UT Dallas faculty and staff raised more than $100,000 for local, national and international nonprofit organizations in this year's State Employee Charitable Campaign.

Nearly $36,000 of the total will go to UT Dallas' Academic Bridge Program and the Callier Center for Communication Disorders. A total of 175 faculty and staff members made gifts in this year's campaign.

University Services Cut Hours of Operation During Fall Break

Many UT Dallas entities have reduced their hours of operation during fall break this week. For specific schedules, check the websites for dining, the Comet Cruiser and Comet Cabs, the McDermott Library, the Activity Center and Rec Center West and the SPN Wellness Center.

Faculty and Staff Holiday Party Set for Dec. 2

A Holiday Dessert Reception, hosted by the Office of the President, will be held 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the Galaxy Rooms (SU 2.602).

Wellness Committee, Food Outlets Want Your Input

Faculty and staff members are invited to participate in surveys for the Campus Wellness Committee, which is seeking feedback on interest in wellness programs and events, and Chartwells, which manages the campus food and beverage outlets.

Requests Are Due for Spring 2017 Textbook Adoptions

The University Bookstore team will begin processing requests for spring 2017 course material adoptions over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Textbook adoptions should be submitted as soon as possible. Email orders with your name, full course information, section(s), title, author, ISBN and usage (required or recommended) to [email protected]. This address should be used only for course material adoptions. Submitting adoptions to any other email address does not guarantee that the University Bookstore will receive your order. All other email should go through [email protected].

Commencement Ceremony Volunteers
Staff members interested in volunteering at the Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremonies are invited to sign up online by Friday, Dec. 2. Available shifts include:

  • Friday, Dec. 16: 7:30 a.m.-noon; noon-6 p.m.; (all day) 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 17: 7:30 a.m.-noon; noon-2:30 p.m.; (all day) 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Volunteers will be contacted to confirm shift scheduling after signing up.

Self-Defense Classes
The UT Dallas Police Department will offer free self-defense classes for staff, faculty and students at the UT Dallas Police Department (northeast corner of Parking Lot A). Upcoming classes will be from 5 to 9 p.m., on the following dates:

  • R.A.D. for Women - Dec. 12-14, Jan. 18-20, Feb. 16-18, March 14-16.

Adobe Creative Cloud
The Office of Information Technology is now offering Adobe Creative Cloud (ACC) for faculty and staff and ACC site licensing for UT Dallas equipment. ACC is a cloud-based suite that includes PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere, Dreamweaver, Muse, Stock and Animate. Faculty and staff can request it through the Atlas Self-Service Portal. Simply log in, then select: Service Catalog, Software Services, Site Licensed Software, Request Adobe Creative Cloud. Each license can have up to two installations for home use. The Adobe site licensing also allows students to use the software in the University's public access labs. Staff Council Fall Fundraiser
Staff Council's annual fall fundraiser has begun. A variety of poinsettias, cactuses and teddy bears are available for purchase online. Prices range from $8 to $12. The deadline to place orders is Friday, Nov. 25. Orders will be delivered to your office. All proceeds benefit the staff scholarship fund.
