Employees Urged to Specify Electronic W-2 Form Delivery

Employees Urged to Specify Electronic W-2 Form Delivery
As tax season nears, the Payroll Office is asking employees to make sure their address information and W-2 form preferences are up-to-date. Log in to Galaxy and navigate to Self Service / Staff Tools / Personal Information to verify that your address is current. If you have not already, consider electing to receive your W-2 electronically.

Benefits of the electronic W-2 include receiving your form earlier, the capability to print multiple copies and the ability to retrieve previous years’ W-2s. Sign up now at Galaxy Self Service / Staff Tools / Payroll and Compensation / W-2 Consent. If you have consented previously to receive your W-2 electronically, you don’t need to do so again. Contact the Payroll Office at 972-883-2611 or [email protected] if you have questions.

IRS Insurance Coverage Form 1095-C to be Distributed by Jan. 31

Effective this year, the Internal Revenue Service requires the University and many other employers to provide Form 1095-C to benefits-eligible employees, retirees and COBRA participants. Required by the Affordable Care Act, the form is an annual statement outlining the insurance coverage available to them. The UT Dallas Office of Human Resources is preparing these forms for distribution by Jan. 31. Forms will be made available online to employees who provide consent or mailed otherwise to each employee address on record. Details about the online consent process, which is separate from the W-2 process, will be provided soon.

TRS Reviewing Information After Wage Reporting Change

TRS Reviewing Information After Wage Reporting Change
Changes that took effect Sept. 1 require UT Dallas to report compensation to the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) in the month it is paid rather than the month it is earned. TRS will review wage information for all retiring employees and make adjustments as needed so that TRS members who are affected by this rule change do not lose a month of compensation credit.

Affected employees include TRS members planning to retire in fiscal 2016 and those with highest total 2014-15 wages. Employees may call TRS directly at 800-223-8778 for further clarification. More information is available online under “Report When Paid Corrections.”
