Homecoming Parade to Reroute Buses and Other Traffic
UT Dallas faculty and staff are invited to attend the Homecoming Parade noon-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. During this time, all traffic, Comet Cabs and Comet Cruiser buses will be detoured because of the parade route on Rutford Avenue. Allow extra time to reach your destination.

Roads will reopen and services will return to their normal schedules immediately after the parade. Read more

Cybersecurity Expert to Share Insights in Next ATEC Lecture

Poinsettia Sale Benefits Staff Council Scholarships
The annual Staff Council Poinsettia and Christmas Cactus Sale is now live online. The deadline to order is Monday, Nov. 23 for delivery on Friday, Dec. 4. Purchases benefit the UT Dallas Staff Council Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to staff members each fall and spring. The poinsettias, which are available in red, pink or white, are $10 each. Christmas cactuses are $12 each.

Grace Period Ends Nov. 15 for UT Flex Health Care Expenses

The grace period for employees to incur health care expenses under the UT Flex plan is Sunday, Nov. 15. Plan participants can avoid forfeiting leftover funds by ensuring all health care expenses occur before that date. Plan participants then will have until Monday, Nov. 30, to submit their claims. On the Menu at Lunch Talk: How to Handle Holiday Stress

The UT Dallas Wellness Committee will host a “lunch and learn” talk on managing holiday stress from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, in Student Union Galaxy Room B (2.602B). The guest speaker will be David Mora, a licensed professional counselor with UT Southwestern Medical Center. Participants will be served a light lunch. RSVP is recommended.

Veterans to Discuss Brain Injuries and Cognitive Empowerment

Military veterans Mike Rials and KeeShaun Coffey will discuss common misconceptions about post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury in a talk titled “Maximizing Cognitive Empowerment of our Future Leaders.” Their presentation is scheduled for 11:30-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, in the TI Auditorium (ECSS 2.102). The UT Southwestern Mobile Mammography Unit will be on campus 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, south of the mall on the east side of the traffic circle. Sponsored mammograms are available for patients without health care coverage.

Cybersecurity Expert to Share Insights in Next ATEC Lecture
The Galerstein Women’s Center and Women in Science Alliance invite faculty and staff to have tea and hear a talk by Dr. Denise Paquette Boots of the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Boots will share her personal story and how it led her to become a criminologist and researcher. The event will be held at the Galerstein Women's Center (SSB 4.300).

UT Select Health Plan Members Invited to Pain Treatment Talk

The Human Resources Benefits team will host a lunch-and-learn presentation by Airrosti, a treatment provider for chronic pain and spine, joint and soft tissue injuries, at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the Founders Building second-floor atrium. Airrosti is also accepting appointments for on-site assessments. Lunch will be provided, and registration is required.

Recycle your outdated electronics at the Texas Recycles Day E-Waste Roundup on Thursday, Nov. 12. Items can be dropped off 10 a.m.-2 p.m. south of the Visitor Center and University Bookstore in Lot J. Bring only personal electronic items. The roundup will not accept UT Dallas electronic property, which should be collected by the University’s Surplus office.
