Dependent Loses Coverage
Dependent children, who turn age 26 are no longer eligible for UT medical insurance. Dependent children, who turn age 25 or get married, are no longer eligible for other UT insurance benefits. Your Benefits Rep must be notified when your dependent child is no longer eligible under our plan. Coverage terminates at the end of the month in which the event occurs. Your child may elect continuation coverage through COBRA for up to 36 months.
What do you need to do?
Within 31 days of your child's ineligibility, you must drop your child’s coverage. If your child is dropping coverage due to marriage, you must provide your Benefits Rep a copy of the marriage certificate. Ineligibility due to reaching the limiting age does not require additional certification.
- Insurance Enrollment/Change Authorization Form
- Marriage Certificate, if applicable
