Dual Benefits Enrollment for Life Event Changes, New Hires and Newly Eligible Employees

Dual benefits enrollment may be required for employees who experience a life event change, are new hires or became newly eligible for benefits between July 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018. If you fall into one of these categories, please carefully read the information below and contact a Benefits Administrator if you need assistance in completing your enrollment.

Employees with Life Event Changes between July 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018

If you experience a life event change (i.e. marriage, divorce, birth of a child, etc.) between July 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018, contact a Benefits Administrator or contact benefits@utdallas.edu within 31 days from the date of the event to make changes to your benefits.

Employees who are hired or become benefits-eligible between July 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018

New hires and newly benefits-eligible employees have 31 days to enroll from their start date or benefits-eligible date. Employees who are hired or become benefits-eligible between July 1, 2018, and August 31, 2018, will have to complete dual enrollment (2017-2018 and 2018-2019). The choices you make for your initial new hire or newly-eligible benefits for the Plan Year 2017-2018 may also impact your 2018-2019 benefits.

When you receive an invitation to enroll online for your initial benefits enrollment as a new hire, you will enroll as a new hire first. If you are enrolling between July 15 and July 31, 2018, you will be prompted to also enroll for your Annual Enrollment. Please make sure you enroll for both years. Read and follow the directions provided while you are enrolling.

Employees hired from August 1 through August 31, 2018, will also complete their initial enrollment online first. Afterward, they are also provided with the opportunity to enroll for the annual enrollment period with the effective date of September 1, 2018. The system will prompt and allow August hires to enroll online as long as the data is already sent to UT System Office of Employee Benefits prior to the fiscal budget roll processing. August new hires will not be able to elect the UT FLEX program online for August. Contact a Benefits Administrator to make the one month UT FLEX election.

 

We encourage employees hired in August to submit their initial enrollment and annual enrollment online no later than August 17, 2018, to avoid delays in processing due to the Fiscal Year schedule and budget and payroll processing periods between mid-August and September.
