Deciding on Economics
Deciding on economics had a lot to do with the fact that I’ve always been interested in the social sciences. It’s always been a field where a lot of my interests lied. When I first came to college I wasn’t really sure if that was what I wanted to major in, but moving along I realized that I like working with people and reading about things that relate to people and the economy. It was something that I could see myself doing in the future and working with others.
My EPPS Success
I’ve really been able to benefit from the advising, which has been fantastic. The website has been updated a lot and that has been a big resource for me, as well as being able to receive updates from the university about any changes in the catalog that have occurred. The faculty and the staff have been really receptive and have really helped me achieve success.
Plans for the Future
Currently I’m debating on whether I want to go to law or grad school. I can see myself working for a private organization in the communications, economic, or finance sectors. I may possibly consider working in active public service one day.
Advice to Prospective EPPS Students
The first thing would be to have an open mind. In the beginning you may not know what you want to do or how you envision yourself in 10 to 15 years, but as you move on you will grow to know what you want. One of the beautiful things about being an EPPS major is that there are so many opportunities available and so many places where you can work or intern, and those are opportunities you shouldn’t pass up. Overall, staying focused and working hard will get you places.
I really like reading a lot. A lot of the time I like to just browse the internet to see or find things that I can read. I’m really involved with my fraternity, which is always a really good way for me to just hang out and not have to worry about the stress that comes from school or work.
