Life In Our City

Outdoors

After partaking in the abundant dining options Dallas offers, a number of trails, parks and lakes offer locations for outdoor exercise or adventure. White Rock Lake features hiking, bicycling and jogging trails and hosts the Dallas Arboretumn—a peaceful and spectacular botanical garden. A Boston Marathon qualifier, the White Rock Marathon occurs every December.

The Katy Trail, another hiking, bicycling and jogging trail, follows part of the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT or "Katy") railroad path through several miles of Dallas terrain. More than 200 acres of natural habitat are preserved in Dallas County, the largest being Cedar Hill State Park. Richardson boasts 40 miles of trails and walkways bordering city parks like Breckenridge Park, a beautiful park featuring 417 acres of woodlands, soccer fields, picnic areas and a lake.
