Student Diversity Award Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the $1000 scholarship that accompanies the Student Diversity Award, the student must:

  • Be  a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Texas at Dallas in good standing
  • Possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Participate in events sponsored by one or more of the departments of the Office of Diversity and Community Engagement: Galerstein Women's Center, Community Engagement, Faculty Diversity, Institutional Diversity Initiatives or Multicultural Center
  • The following are recommended but not required:
    • Documentation of at least 50 hours of volunteer service at a local non-profit organization
    • Leadership or involvement in campus organization

Student Diversity Award Nomination Checklist

  • Nomination Statement
  • Bio (250 words or less)
  • Resume (1 page)
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation (One academic reference required)
  • Proof of attendance at Office of Diversity and Community Engagement events
  • Documentation of volunteer service hours on organization letterhead, if applicable
  • Documentation of involvement in campus organizations, if applicable

Nomination Deadline and Submission Requirements

All nominations are due by 5:00pm on Friday, March 1, 2013. Nominations may be
submitted electronically.

Nominations must be fully substantiated and reflect a careful and conscientious evaluation of the nominee.  Achievements should align closely to the selection criteria and be explained in a way that can be easily understood and appreciated by the general public.
