Anchi Ku BS’81

An alumna dedicated to serving her alma mater and the international community.

Anchi Ku BS’81 is a paralegal with Thompson & Knight LLP, where she assists in the representation of clients in immigration and nationality law matters.

Born in Ankara, Turkey, Ku moved to Dallas in 1977 after graduating high school in Taiwan. She enrolled at The University of Texas at Dallas two years later and completed a bachelor’s in business and public administration in 1981. After earning a CMBA from the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin, Ku began her current career as an immigration paralegal.

Since graduating from UT Dallas, Ku has remained a champion of causes around the University and throughout her community. She served on the board of the UT Dallas Alumni Association and as a member of the presidential search committee which resulted in the 2005 hiring Dr. David E. Daniel, currently president emeritus at UT Dallas.

Anchi Ku BS’81

During her time with the Alumni Association, Ku headed the committee which created the UT Dallas ring and Ring Ceremony, one of the University’s most beloved traditions.

Currently, Ku serves as a member of the UT Dallas Executive Board and remains active coordinating events throughout the University’s Asian community.

Outside of UT Dallas, Ku is an active civic leader. She is currently treasurer and past president of Executive Women of Dallas and a board member of Minority Business News Publishing Company. Among her many prior volunteer roles, Ku served as a member of The Women’s Museum Annual Gala Committee, was a charter member of the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce and became the first Asian-American woman to serve as a board member for the Texas Department of Human Services when she was nominated by then-Gov. George W. Bush.

Ku was recognized for her many contributions to the University and her community with the inaugural Green and Orange Award in 2006.
