Summer Camps

Camp CHAT (Communication Habilitation via Audition for Teens)

Camp CHAT is a weekend retreat for teens with hearing loss and their families. Campers will engage in communication activities using the latest digital wireless microphones and technology. Depending on the camp location, campers will also have the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities such as a challenge course, trail biking, swimming, ziplining, fishing, hammock relaxing and campfire excitement.

Camp is conducted by a licensed audiologist with the support of graduate student clinicians.

Cost: $150 for 1 teen and 1 parent, $50 for additional parent/sibling.

Read to Succeed

Read to Succeed is a group based program designed to improve literacy skills for children entering kindergarten to first grade. Participants learn by doing and exploring literacy to create a motivating environment. Each lesson introduces a reading skill and strategy while implementing phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Individual goals are addressed for children who have been identified as “at risk” in the area of literacy. These students may also have been diagnosed with a language disorder or speech sound disorder.

Read to Succeed is led by a licensed speech-language pathologist with the support of graduate student clinicians.

Evaluation Requirement: An intake assessment is required for all new patients. The cost of the intake is $50 and is not insurance eligible. To schedule an assessment, please call the Dallas location at 214-905-3030.

SLICK (Summer Language Intervention Camp for Kids)

SLICK is an intensive language therapy program for children who have finished 1st grade through children who have finished 6th grade who have language and learning disorders. SLICK is conducted by a licensed speech-language pathologist with the support of graduate student clinicians.

The purpose of SLICK is to provide a fun learning environment and to build children’s language skills through literacy‐based activities. The program addresses language goals such as following directions, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, vocabulary, identifying the main idea, summarizing and
problem solving.

Evaluation Requirement: An intake assessment is required for all new patients. The cost of the intake is $50 and is not insurance eligible. To schedule an assessment, please call the Richardson location at 972-883-3630.

Cochlear Implant Summer Listening Camp

Each year, the Callier Center coordinates a fun-filled summer camp for children ages 4 - 11 who have cochlear implants.

Campers receive listening and speech-language therapy throughout the week and participate in exciting camp activities such as arts and crafts, music and dance, bounce house slides and obstacle courses. Campers also have the opportunity to be with other children who have cochlear implants, and family members have an opportunity to come together and share information.

Camp is conducted by licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists, and graduate student clinicians serve as camp counselors or “buddies."

Cost: $250

Camp Interact

Camp Interact is a therapeutic day camp for children finishing 1st grade to 5th grades with social difficulties. Children may have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder/Asperger’s, ADHD, nonverbal learning disorder, and/or mild language impairments.

Camp Interact:

  • Is specifically designed to give children with social communication deficits a chance to participate in a fun camp-like environment
  • Includes drama, team-building activities, funshops and special camp activities throughout the week
  • Includes individualized goals
  • Incorporates each child's goals into every part of the day
  • Is conducted by licensed speech-language pathologists with the support of graduate student clinicians
  • Is best suited for children who are fully conversational in home and school environments
